Managing a cancer diagnosis is handled differently by people. One thing ‘experts’ and researchers agree on is that having a healthy mindset is a vital part of the journey. What we believe and how we respond makes a big difference in influencing outcomes.
Our thoughts and feelings create vibrations. The science tells us that our vibrations influence our immune system and the health of our cells.
Of course, there is likely to be initial shock and fear, and decisions and choices needing to be made. After that, ideally, we get on with clearing out all unhelpful beliefs, thoughts and fears as we navigate our way, and with confidence, hope and empowerment.
Some choices to ponder
- We can choose fear and doubt or we can hold positive vibrations and to expect the very best
- We can say ‘why me’ or we can explore insights and be empowered and confident throughout the process. The cells really like gratitude too!
- We can give our power over to others and feel hopeless or listen to our body, gather knowledge and tune into our intuition and wisdom
Where do the unhelpful beliefs come from?
Our beliefs develop from our life experiences and what meaning we made from them at the time. The subconscious mind stores ALL of these as beliefs. We then see the world from these beliefs and even subconsciously seek out evidence to confirm these beliefs!
If in our experiences we have witnessed other people around us do poorly with their cancer, we can believe this is true for everyone or true for ourselves. Our mind truly has the power to influence the physical body. Be very careful about what to believe in with regard to predisposed genetics. Anyone knowing about genetics and epi-genetics, knows that our genes can be kept turned off, turned on or switched off.
Some beliefs to ponder:
- Our body has the divine intelligence to heal itself and it knows how to restore it balance back to its natural healthy state, given the right conditions
- We can influence our immune system to be strong so it can do its job, one of which is to clear out unhealthy cells. Of course, diet and lifestyle changes are likely to be needed – the current environment for the body needs changes. Are we willing to do what it takes?
- Our body, mind and spirit are closely interconnected, and all three can be addressed together. Blocks can be unblocked, energy can flow, and it is never ‘too late’
- Using language to help and not hinder is important – are we going to ‘fight cancer’ or ‘beat it’ or are we going to find strong reasons to really want to live and shout them from the rooftops
- We can choose to fear cancer or find a way to have an accepting, loving relationship with it. This does not mean resignation. The body is telling us it got out of balance. Talking to these cells and inviting them to go is powerful, now that they have our attention and we are listening
- We all have intuition to tap into as we explore and make decisions. Staying in the driver’s seat and letting everyone else be our consultants seems like a good plan.
- Self-love and self-care must be part of the picture and to be able to both give and receive. Knowing what we need and want is important and we need to believe we are supported and connected. There is no room for negativity around us. We need to choose how our energy is spent and gathered so we can live life uplifted and positive. Our cells will thank us for these vibrations.
Support for changing beliefs
There are things we can do to be empowered and to be in the right mindset when facing such challenges. However, usually, the subconscious mind also needs to be engaged with for powerful shifts.
The subconscious mind KNOWS the beliefs we hold. It has dutifully held on to all the beliefs we have gathered. However, it does not know which ones are now out of date or unhelpful to us and there are ways to reset these beliefs to be powerful and helpful.
There are many modalities working within the subconscious mind such as hypnotherapy, EFT, NLP and NET.
I have been working as a mindset change practitioner for the past 15 years using a modality known as PSYCH-K. The work is gentle, quick and effective. This modality also safely clears past trauma from the cellular memory without having to talk about it all over again or reactivate pain. Dr Bruce Lipton, a well-known cellular biologist and author of ‘The Biology of Belief’, has proven PSYCH-K scientificall. He has proven that our beliefs and thoughts have the power to alter our body at a cellular and DNA level. Dr Lipton’s work can be easily found on YouTube.
PSYCH-K uses kinesiology to communicate with the subconscious part of the mind and then, choosing from a range of techniques, new beliefs are created.
It is very possible to set ourselves up for the best possible outcomes for our health and wellbeing with our journey with cancer, which would otherwise take hours and years to achieve, trying other ways.
Summary
Such a diagnosis does not need to mean ‘the end’ and how we respond is important for a good journey. What we think and believe can help tremendously. We can create conditions for best possible outcomes and that includes having beliefs that will serve us.
