Liz Koh is joining forces with Summerset Retirement Villages to launch a new programme available free for those planning for, or at, retirement age to help them get the best out of their retirement years.
The Retire Ready programme includes a financial wellbeing series that helps people decide what kind of retirement they want, homes in on the financial changes they need to make to get there, as well as building an understanding of the three stages of retirement (‘live it up’, ‘fix it up’, and ‘wind it down’).
It’s also useful for those already in retirement as it delves into topics such as managing assets and investments in retirement, and wills and wealth distribution.
Summerset Retirement Villages Wellness Programme Manager Kirsty Johnson says Retire Ready was inspired by village residents and prospective residents who are often unsure if they have everything in order to retire comfortably.
“They can be concerned about things like – do I have enough to cover my weekly fees and what happens if I have to move into care, how do I pay for that?
“So, we decided to build this programme with the aim of helping them and helping those 45/50+-year-olds who still have that time to think about retirement.”
Johnson says Summerset wants to do its best to help people feel comfortable about retirement, whatever that looks like for them.
“That financial uncertainty can be pretty detrimental to people’s wellbeing. We’d like to do something about it.”
Four webinars, presented by Liz Koh, are being held as part of the programme, with the next one, Saving and Investment, on 21 August. Those interested can register here. There is also a workbook available for participants to work through.
A further webinar on Estate Planning will be held on 16 October, with the final webinar on 20 November being a live Q&A session for participants on any money topic. The webinars will be available online afterwards for those unable to attend.
More information on Retire Ready is available on the Summerset website.
